July 2021

Summer is in full swing and I am so blessed to be able to spend time with the grandkids.  I try to go and spend a day with them every week if their busy schedule allows it.

This week Cash had said he wanted to go to a Boba shop.  The Boba Cafe in Moore was the only one open early enough for us, so that's where we headed.  We were actually their first customer of the day!  The drinks we got were great.

You can tell by the expression on Cash's face that he liked his choice! I think it was some kind of Harry Potter Butter beer!

Cooper was happy with her choice as well.

Enjoyed our day messing around and looking for some school supplies.  It is always fun to be around these kids.  They do make me laugh! I'm sure we will make a few more visits to respectable stores to make sure we are ready for this long awaited return to school.

Back at home the RZR is getting some much needed cleaning and mechanical going over.  Chuck has been busy working on adding a horn and things that we have to have in Arizona to make it street legal to drive.

The cage and roof are being powder coated and should be back in a few weeks. I had to take a picture of our stream line RZR..(looks so funny without a cage!)

As of July 4th, Cash headed to his first week camp.  He along with his best friend Van will share the week together.  I know Cash is totally excited to do this.  I also know that mom, dad and even sister are going to miss the guy!  Pine Cove is such a nice Christian based camp.  I am sure that he will grow mentally and physically from this week away from home.  So glad that they are actually able to have the camp this year and have been able to adapt to Covid protocol and make it safe for the kids and workers.

July 10th is Heather and Anthony's Anniversary.  I remember the very warm July 10th they were married.  We all sweated just about like this year.  It was a wet season and everything was beautiful at Coles Garden's. Happy Anniversary guys!

Another very important date is July 12th.  Anthony has a birthday.  We take mother and Louie to Norman to enjoy an evening of dinner with the family.  It has been awhile since mother and Louie had been down and they were surprised at the hole in the kids backyard.

The pool they are building has been hampered by all the rain we have had this summer.  Looks like things are looking up and hopefully they will be able to get the concrete done soon.  Again, due to Covid everything is either backed up or out of stock.  I know they will be glad to get it done!  We enjoyed our evening with them.  Anthony had requested banana pudding for his "cake" so Cooper fixed up some really good pudding for him.

I can't believe my baby is 39 yrs. old.  Where has all the time gone. So thankful to have such a great kid!

July 16th the cage and roof are back and Chuck and I are eager to get it back on the RZR.  Have I mentioned how heavy this cage is?  Well, it's all there for sure.  So glad I am married to an engineer, as he has set up a winch for us to pick up the cage and somehow get it over the RZR and drop it into place.  All sounds so good in theory, but due to welding a few joints before painting the cage doesn't just "sit" down on the body so easy.  It was very hot in the shop and we are trying our best to get the frame on and finally we are able to get it back in place and screwed back down.

Have I mentioned that the new paint really looks great.  I'm sure if we had more man power the cage would have gone on a lot easier, but we did make it happen!  Now we need to get this thing out and get it dirty.  Plans have been made to take it to Colorado in August with our friends Diana & Chris.  Can't wait!!

It appears we have been getting a little rain in Yuma according to our friends that live there full time.  The monsoon winds have also been kicking up and we are informed that we have a swimming pool in our yard.  I laugh and tell them we had one delivered.  It is just a small wading pool that I'm sure has lost its way during one of the wind events.  I get a doorbell call from Heidi and Susie to tell us about it.  Enjoyed talking to them and so wish we were there!

Tony was nice enough to go and retrieve the pool and put it the courtyard.

Well, the pool had its own agenda and decided during the next windy day to go and land on some of the plants.  I asked Tony if he minded going over and retrieving it and find a new home for the poor lost pool.  Tony is so helpful when we have to have something taken care of there.  He assured me the pool
would not be returning!

July 25th, we have dinner with my cousin, Greg and his family.  Shelley was in town and wanted to see mother and Louie, so we went to dinner at Louie's in Yukon.  It was so nice to get to visit with them.  Gosh we only live about a 1/2 mile apart, but just never seem to get together.   We need to make this happen more often!

The last of the month is here and I am so excited to get a little project finished.  I will preface this last paragraph by saying that back some 15 yrs. ago or so, we remodeled our little half bath.  At the time I had the guy to lay our wood floor in the bathroom.  As a decorator I knew the use of wood products on the floor was a no no, but I threw caution to the wind and had him go ahead and install it.  It lasted until about a year ago when we developed a leak at the toilet stool.  It buckled the wood and I knew that we needed to do something to fix it.  Now that the ceramic tiles look like wood, that was going to be our replacement for the now water soaked wood.  It was so nice to get the job done.  It was a very small area to even worry about, but I wasn't going to attempt it!

Diana & Chris had used a great tile setter to do their remodel and they shared the contact with us.  Dennie was everything you could want in a tile setter.  Quick, clean and efficient!  One afternoon he was here tearing out the old tile and prepping the floor.  He laid the tiles and said he would be back the next morning to grout it.  Boom, it is all done.  Very pleased with the outcome.  It really doesn't look any different from the original, but I know one thing for sure, it is going to be a breeze to take care of.

One other thing happened this month.  Chuck is officially an Elk.  He has officially become a member of the Elks Lodge #417 in Oklahoma City.  He was initiated into the lodge this month.  I will be joining and be initiated in September.  Thanks to our friends Bryan and Sandy for sponsoring us!

July is over and it is still hot in Oklahoma.  The humidity levels are terrible this year due to all the rain. I am so thankful for the rain, but gosh, can you dial back that humidity!
