September 2021

September is officially here and we finally get out on the Goldwing and take it for a ride.  Sadly we haven't ridden much at all this season.  No real excuse for not riding, but we just haven't.  Probably need to sell a bike!  Now to convince Chuck to do that, and which one would he sell???

We started a little upgrade on the McClass"C" about the middle of the month.  The dinette area is getting an upgrade. There was an area that had some nice unused storage that we thought we could add to the kitchen area.   I contacted my upholster and he said if I would get the fabric to him he would get the cushions remade for me before we head back to Arizona.  I love a challenge, so I found some fabric locally and made it happen.

September 12th, we had some unexpected visitors come to our place.  We were so excited when we heard from Marcy and Clayton that they were going to come to our place for a visit.  Seems we are in an ideal location for them to show their RV to a man that is wanting to purchase it.  The air conditioner on their rig is acting up so Chuck told them he would trouble shoot it and see if anything could be done.

Clayton and Chuck are on a mission to find a capacitor for the non working air conditioner.  After several tries with no one having the part, they go to a local electrical supply house and find what they needed.  Back at the house, Chuck installs it and sadly it didn't work.  Looks like they need a complete air conditioner unit.  Clayton is on the phone to every RV store in the area and due to the shortages in our supply chain there are none to be found.  In the mean time the gentleman is wanting to buy the rig from them, so Clayton makes a last ditch effort call to an air conditioner guy in Yuma, AZ that they know and use.  Can you believe it, he has the air conditioner in stock.  He is going to ship it to the repair shop in Oklahoma City and it will be installed for the guy.  This deal is really happening.

The next morning we drive them to meet "Dewey" the gentleman that was buying their rig.  They conduct their business at a local bank, and walk out with money in hand and one less RV......now the story gets even more interesting.

Clayton and Marcy are in Yukon, OK. without an RV....they have their little tow vehicle and a lot of "stuff" that was in the now sold RV.  They had thought about renting a U-Haul and driving it back to Yuma, but we offered a suggestion.  They can drive our Jeep to Yuma, loaded with their stuff.  We can bring their tow vehicle back to them the end of December when we come back from our holiday trip back home.  A plan has been made and it looks like this is a win win for all of us.  I really wasn't excited about driving the Jeep back to Yuma, as we will be pulling the RZR with our motorhome.  I know this is a lot of detail, and probably doesn't matter to anyone, but I really want to remember this story for a long time, and writing it down does just that.....LOL....and it really is kind of funny!

September 16th, with a very loaded Jeep....even had a packet rack on the back, Marcy and Clayton head west to their home in The Foothills of Yuma, AZ.

We have their now sold rig in our yard, as "Dewey" has no place to store it yet, and asked if we could keep it for a few days.  What could we say!!!  Sure!!!! But he is aware that we will be leaving the end of the month and he will have to come and get it!

Marcy had told me about making these "Fairytale Pumpkin" centerpieces so I went to my local Walmart and instead of buying fresh pumpkins, I chose a few "faux" ones.

I made a couple of them.  One for my mom and one for my cousin in law.  They were a lot of fun to put together.  I really enjoyed them, and think they turned out pretty cute.  The one nice thing about using the "faux" pumpkins is that they won't rot and ruin any furniture!  Thanks Marcy for inspiring me to make them.

September 20th and its getting down to crunch time for our McClass"C" remodeled dinette.  Chuck has gotten the area ready for the new cushions.  The new little table that he ordered has come in and we have installed the legs on it, so all we have left are the cushions.  On the 24th, I was able to go and pick up the cushions.  We are pretty pleased with our finished product.  I think it makes the area much more user friendly and gosh I actually have some extra hidden storage.  Winner!!!!!

September 27th is officially here and we are hooked up and ready to make our way West!  Diana is following us back to Yuma as well.  She is as excited as we are to get back and enjoy our winter homes.  Since Chris wasn't able to make the trip and I am a passenger, I split the days up a little and rode with Diana some and then Chuck and Bronco.

We spent our first night outside of Albuquerque, NM. at the Rt 66 Casino, at the adjoining RV park.  What a great place to stay.  We have always heard from people how nice it was and it really was!

OK, so you know Diana is driving back to Yuma, and she is in her truck...well, she is determined to spend the night in the truck.  We have assured her that we have room for her in our rig but she really wants to try this.  I gave her a couple of towels to put around the windows so she would feel a little more private.  We have told her if she wants to come into the rig at anytime to just come in.  Well, she didn't....she proved she could sleep in the truck.

She did say that it got a bit cold early in the morning, and she would want to be sure and have more blankets if she ever does that again.  I'm impressed that she did it!!!  She gets an "at a girl" award from me!

Our trip is pretty normal and we make good time to The Foothills the next day.  It is so nice to be back to our second home.  Wonderful to see a lot of our neighbors as well.  All good for us.

Diana puts her palm tree trimming to a test.  She got her new saw out and followed Chucks directions to a tee.

This month ends with some big smiles on the three of our faces.  Life is good!
